Helen Marshall quilt

Welcome to my  web page. I am delighted with the design and I hope you will visit the site many times. The design shows a compilation of two of my quilts with Kapiti Island in the background. I live in this area of the lower North Island of New Zealand.

I am a quilter and an embroiderer and enjoy teaching my own original projects, both in Patchwork and Embroidery. I have a "What happens if" policy for the students which means we have a lot of fun and get some great results. I like the addition of embroidery either by hand or machine to my patchwork, I feel it gives an extra dimension to the flat surface. To learn where I'll be teaching, visit my Teaching Schedule page. To learn more about my classes, visit my Classes page where I've also included an image from each class and some examples of my students' work.

Inspiration for my work often comes from my garden and the unique landscape of New Zealand.

  • I have just added four new one day Patchwork Classes to my list, these are aimed at teaching new skills.  They are Cornucopia, Daisy,Daisy, Kotuku, and  Look who is Hiding.
  • I have just joined Acadeny of Quilting which is replacing Quilt University. the address is http://academyof quilting.  I will have three classes running for the first part of this year starting with Waterlilies, followed by Wheel of Mystery and then Fireworks.  These are all described on my Teaching Schedule. I hope you can join me on one or all of these classes.  To see former students work there are some examples on myClasses pages under the particular class.
