Passion Fruit
2005 (41"x 55") (104cms x 140cms) I adore passionfruit, for flamboyant flowers, the flavor, and the colors. We have several vines growing in the garden and the colors of the fruit inspired this quilt. The deep plum color of the wrinkled skin is cut to reveal the color combination of yellow and orange fruit. I wanted to make a quilt in a complimentary color scheme and chose the colors of this fruit as the basis. The sharp green and the bright blue give an accent that suggests leaves and sky. By using many hand dyes, tone on tones and batiks, I achieved the flow of color through this quilt.
